Retrocommissioning

Building ReCx

Finding and correcting building systems deficiencies can be like searching for needles in a haystack. That’s where retrocommissioning (ReCx) comes to the rescue. ReCx is a systematic evaluation that unearths MEP systems issues that, remaining undetected, would result in higher operation and maintenance costs and increased comfort issues. (ReCx can also be included as part of an ASHRAE Level I, II, or III Energy Audit.)

During retrocommissioning, our project performance team conducts a detailed site assessment. We then perform operational testing, sensor calibration, and short-term diagnostic monitoring to uncover opportunities to correct and enhance equipment functionality, indoor air quality, and system longevity.

ReCx diagnostics may include:

  • HVAC System performance testing, including control sequences

  • Lighting level assessment (foot candles and lighting power density)

  • Duct leakage testing

  • Airflow (TAB) and temperature measurements

  • Water flow (TAB) and temperature measurements

  • Infrared thermography

  • Solar shading analysis

  • Relative humidity and indoor air quality testing
