Hockinson School District
In 2023, Hockinson School District selected the Millig Design Build team to improve comfort and reduce operational costs.
Hockinson District Office & Community Center Solutions
At the time of engagement, electric-heating furnaces from’80s served the District Office and Community Center. In addition to being well past their expected service life, these units provided no cooling.
The Millig team replaced the electric furnaces with convertible ducted heat pumps and added ground- and wall-mounted condensing units for energy-efficient cooling.
Hockinson Elementary School Solutions
In 2010, the mechanical systems at the elementary school were modified for increased energy efficiency, and the building’s air-cooled chiller was replaced with an air-to-water heat pump capable of providing both hot and chilled water to the central hydronic loop.
Unfortunately, during swing seasons when the system regularly switched from heating to cooling during the day, the system was unable to provide adequate heating or cooling.
To correct the issue, the Millig team reprogrammed the controls system. The team also replaced all non-LED lighting with high-efficiency LED lighting technology.
Hockinson High School Solutions
Hockinson High School’s Variable Air Volume (VAV) air handlers with electric reheat terminal boxes were in good shape, but its building automation system hadn’t been recommissioned regularly and lighting in the facility was mostly fluorescent.
The Millig team retrocommissioned the building’s existing Automated Logic control system and replaced all non-LED lighting with high-efficiency LED lighting technology.
